BRB Barbera of upper Monferrato
Type:
Biodynamic frizzante rosè 2020, refermented in bottle Pet Nat 13%vol, no added sulphites.
Grape variety:100% Barbera
Winemaking process:
Andeira is an unfilterd wine refermented in the bottle, that means the sediment has not been disgorged as like in the second step of Metodo Classico wines. The residual tasty sediment gives the characteristic cloudy colour of this wine style called Frizzante or Pét-Nat (pétillant naturel - naturally sparkling).
From vineyards planted between 1970 and 2005, with 5 tons per ha average yield.
It spends around 6 months in old wooden casks and tonneaux before being bottled for the spontaneous refermentation. In the local dialect of 19th century, Andeira means "rhythm, good pace".
Biodynamic methods followed.
Best served chilled about 4-6°C.
Store in cool and dark place keeping the bottle lying down.
Be aware that it has a sparkling reaction during the opening so a slow and patient opening is advised to let the air out gently.
The usal insertions are not advised for this Pet Nat, as the natural sediment will mix itself during the opening.
